Joaquín Navarro, Sustainability Manager at COSTA BRAVA MEDITERRANEAN FOODS, took part yesterday in the roundtable “AI and Resource Management (Water and Energy)”, held as part of the 2nd Forum of the Agri-Food Industry of Catalonia. This forum, organized by the Government of Catalonia, provided a space for dialogue on the key role of new technologies in the efficient management of essential resources like water and energy.
The session also featured Joan Simó from Grup Ametller Origen; Jordi Ferrer from Depurtech; Joaquim Daura from the Energy Efficiency Cluster of Catalonia; and Sergi Ponsà from BETA Technological Center. The event was a valuable opportunity to discuss and explore how artificial intelligence is entering the industry and the resource cost it entails. It was highlighted how AI can become a powerful ally in achieving more ambitious sustainability goals by optimizing processes and reducing environmental impact.
“Energy and water consumption are among the biggest environmental impacts of the food industry. Thanks to AI and digitalization, we can continue improving through predictive models that allow us to adjust processes and consumption with real efficiency.”
We are grateful to the Government of Catalonia for fostering spaces of collaboration and reflection among different organizations and companies.
